Our latest 4 x 2 HDMI Matrix Switcher enables you to select, view and control up to 4 connected source devices at both TV locations. With superfast switching and 3D capability - the HKM42 is by far the highest spec Matrix on the market for under £150.
The HKM42 incorporates a lot of the user-friendly tech used in our HDanywhere products to make it better than your average Matrix:
High Speed 3D Processor
A 3D High Speed processor capable of routing the most vivid and accurate Deep Colour content, 7.1 multichannel audio and key HDMI version 1.4 features such as 3D over HDMI at 1080p to both displays without a single pixel lost.
Magic Eye Infrared (IR) control
The included ‘magic eye’ system enables you to retain control over source functions (such as pause, rewind etc) at both TV locations, even when the Matrix and source devices are out of sight of the remote control. The magic eye ‘sees’ the remote control signals and sends them back down the HDMI cable to the Matrix to be ‘blasted’ at the source. This feature sets our Matrix apart from less user-friendly rivals.
Audio
HDMI ports are only a recent addition to surround sound systems. The HKM42 has separate digital and analogue audio output connections so the HDMI audio channel can be enjoyed via older sound systems also. (Both video and audio remain on both HDMI outputs)
QuickSwitch
Switching times are as close to instant as you can get. An internal NVRAM memory stores HDCP and EDID handshaking data for faster authentication negotiations than rival solutions.

*To ensure 3-D Blu-ray content is routed via the Matrix, High Speed HDMI cables must be used and any connected non-3-D compatible display must not be ‘active’ (i.e. powered off or in standby mode). The 3-D source player must not be able to ‘see’ a 2D only display connected to the Matrix.
**Achievable signal distances depend on the quality of the HDMI cables being used with the unit.

I had a dud HDMI IR convertor, a swift call to the guys at HDCable, and another one was sent and received the next day! Fantastic service.
I'm running this with Sky 3D, BluRay 3D, Popcorn Hour & XBOX, with HDMI cables of 10 meters and longer - no problems at all!(Posted on 15/02/2012)

Star Rating out of 5? Bought this to switch Plasma & Projector outputs with BluRay, Freesat, PC inputs. The Projector is using the HDCable HDMI/Component converter box which also works well.
Very pleased. Switches quickly due to stored EDID. Shame a full reset requires full power off for 10mins, would be better of the unit had a memory clear function. I also use the sound output on HDMI1 to augment my AVR inputs when needed. My Harmony One remote has no issues - used the device in the Logitec database. As has been mentioned in other posts, the led's are bright so I've hidden these behind a custom cover.(Posted on 03/02/2012)

A technical question that wasn't clear in the manual was answered quickly by the knowledgable customer support line.
The only thing I would change would be the very bright LEDs on the front panel, as alluded to by another reviewer.
Fortunately you can site the matrix unit out of sight and use the IR extender feature to control the device so this isn't so much of an issue for me. An LED dimmer or on/off switch for the front panel would be nice in a future model though.
Overall - Excellent. Happy customer!

Thanks Daniel for your review! We are working with our engineers right now to improve the lights. A good tip to combat them is to get a small piece of electrical tape and pierce a tiny hole - lights suitably dimmed - happy customer!

Star Rating out of 5? Works fine although sometimes there is no audio when bringing TV out of standby. This is easily rectified by pressing reset button on remote. My main gripe is the intensity of the LED lights. They are far too bright and distracting in a darkened room. Proposing to stick black tape over them.
NOTE from HDcable: This is very likely to be a handshake issue between the source device and TV which is causing the audio dropout and isn't very common. Once a handshake is done correctly (in this case by hitting the reset button on the remote) both audio and video will be routed fine as the customer has stated. A professional tip to reduce the brightness of the lights is to get a permanent marker pen and dot each light. You will see some light, however it will be greatly reduced and will look a lot nicer than black tape over your new unit!(Posted on 10/05/2011)

Star Rating out of 5? Bought this to replace a "cheap" version purchased off ebay. This matrix works perfectly! Switching is nearly instant, and my old matrix used to blank all screens when one display was switched off, this one does not! All in all a very good matrix for the money!
