True Matrix signal routing allows you to view any of the 4 HDMI sources on either of the 2 HDTVs. This can be one source simultaneously shown on all HDTVs, or the flexibility of each HDTV showing a different source entirely.

The HDbasics 4x4 Matrix is HDCP compliant and supports High Speed HDMI signal throughput for 3D and Full HD 1080p Deep Colour video + Dolby TrueHD 7.1/DTS-HD audio. All HDMI 1.3 and a number of HDMI 1.4 features are supported. For more information, please read our helpful guide to ensure that you make the most out of your 3D setup.

The unit has 24k gold input connector contacts and a robust metal 19” 1 RU rackmount size casing, featuring an RS232/LAN control port for integration with home automation serial controllers (CD-rom program and control codes provided). An IR receiver eye extension cable is also included to allow for hidden placement of the unit.

For example, HDMI sources 1 to 4 can be selected for viewing on either HDTV at any time by using the remote control provided. A Blu-ray film could be shown on output A & D (Living Room & Bedroom) whilst Sky+HD is being shown on outputs B & C (Kitchen & Kid’s Bedroom). The unit could also route Sky+HD to be shown simultaneously on all displays, so that all rooms would be viewing Sky at the same time.

The HDbasics range of HDMI connectivity products are aimed at the budget-conscious, but demanding savvy buyer - meeting high performance standards whilst being very affordable and incredible value for money.

What devices will this HDMI™ matrix switcher work with

This switcher unit has been designed to be compatible with a wide range of HD devices such as Blu-ray players, HD Games Consoles, Sky+HD, Xbox 360, Vigin V+, laptops and computers (connections permitting) amplifiers, HDTV’s, projectors and many more. Look out for the HDMI™ logo on your device, if it’s there, our HDMI matrix switch should support it.

Will this HDMI™ matrix switch work with 3D formats?

ALL HD Cable connectivity products are already compatible with Sky+HD’s 3D service (3D Ready). There are at least 11 competing standards for 3D currently. Our existing product range would support over half of them without the need for updates. Until a 3D format winner becomes apparent there is no way for us to determine for certain at this moment in time.

What is the difference between a Switcher, a Splitter and this Matrix unit?

The key difference with a matrix unit is that you can have multiple HDMI inputs being routed to different outputs simultaneously, so for example, you may have Sky HD being routed to your bedroom and a PS3 routed to the living room, all at the same time. This differs to a switcher where it is designed for use with one display. A splitter is designed for use with multiple displays. A switcher will allow you to connect multiple inputs devices to a single display with only one HDMI input available for example. A splitter will allow you to split a signal to multiple displays, an example would sending a Sky Sports HD image to 4 screens simultaneously around a bar.

How does this Matrix differ from the more expensive InfiniusHD™ models?

InfiniusHD products are designed for the high-end market and professional integrator. InfiniusHD devices incorporate a proprietary ASI technology ‘eyefix™’. This actively improves the HDMI signal integrity with compensation & correction processing ensuring error-free transmission even over challenging HDMI cable distances. More information can be found here: www.hdcable.co.uk/eyefix-hdmi-technology

I need to run a HDMI cable longer than 15 metres?

Achievable signal distances depend on the quality of the HDMI cables being used with the unit. For distances over 15 metres we recommend using a HDMI Extender or one of our extra long distance active HDMI cables. If the majority of distances are over 15m, consider our HDanywhere range of mutiroom HD products for the best solution.
