PS3 + TV with DVI? - What's the best way to connect?
The most important thing to know about DVI connections, aside from being the best possible way of connecting your HD TV if it has a DVI input, is that they do not carry an audio signal. No matter what equipment you are connecting, you WILL need to use a separate audio cable in order to get the sound.
It may be frustrating that you need another cable, but don?t opt for the easy option of using another more simpler connection such as a scart lead. Using a DVI cable is the best way to connect your TV bar none. By using a DVI cable you will be getting the best picture performance and fullest potential from your HD TV.
What audio cable you decide to use will depend on your equipment and the connections available on that equipment.
In the case of a PS3, the ultimate way to connect for sound would be to use it's optical output into a 5.1 surround sound amplifier & speaker system. You could also consider and all-in-one out the box surround sound package as long as it has an optical audio input.
For the majority of users, the only way to connect the PS3 for sound will be to use the red/white phono connectors on the composite cable that comes with it. Simply plug the red/white phono plugs into the stereo input on your home stereo or possibly even the stereo input on your TV and you should be set for sound.
We hope this guide has been of some help to you!
