For situations where a HD signal needs to be run over 35 metres, a HDMI over Cat 5 solution is a cost effective and good option.

One of the drawbacks to using long HDMI cables is that their length is fixed and unchangeable after it has been manufactured. Users cannot reduce or increase the length themselves because HDMI connectors require termination and micro soldering using precise machinery in controlled factory conditions. In contrast Cat 5/Cat-6 cables are much more widely available and far more cost effective compared to HDMI cabling. The Cat 5/Cat-6 cable can be purchase on long reels and users can manually cut cable lengths themselves to whatever length is required, perfectly suiting the individual and specific needs of their set-up scenario.

Compared to HDMI cabling, Cat-6 cabling is much easier to work with in big installations, being easily bendable, far more flexible and easier to be pulled through inner wall trunking or tubing. We recommend the use of high quality, superior shielded professional Cat-6 cabling This can be purchased from us on 305 metre reels. Cat-6 cabling is superior to Cat5 or Cat5e network cabling provides performance of up to 250 MHz, more than double category 5 and 5e, which is much better for demanding HD installs.

The extender kit is very easy to install, being plug and play ready out the box. Consisting of a Sender and a Receiver unit, a HDMI source device such as a Satellite HD box, Blu-ray player, or HD gaming console connects to the Sender unit with a HDMI cable. The Receiver unit connects to the extended HD display device, TV or projector also with a HDMI cable. Two Cat5 or Cat-6 cables link the Extender's Sender and Receiver units, up to 120 metres apart. Power is applied to the Receiver unit with the included 5V DC power supply.

The units have an in-built auto-adjustment of feedback, equalization and signal amplification element, ensuring rock-solid reliable signal performance even over incredibly long distances. The result is faultless HD picture quality and pristine multi-channel digital audio.

Really good product. Works like a treat for transmitting Virgin HD+ from lounge to bedroom. Review by Paul

Really good product. I already had a 300m reel of cat5e so decided to use that. Works like a treat for transmitting Virgin HD+ from lounge to bedroom. I have sent signals over 30 metres and it looks just as good as the main screen. Even managed to separate to my optical speaker system. Well worth it. Will be getting some more.

Product works great, however, I'd get top grade cable (Catx) and test first! Review by digitaldave

This product works great over top spec cable. Don't bother installing Cat5e as I have found to my (very expensive) cost on a 2nd fix where the cables are now behind nicely plastered and decorated walls I am commissioning the HD install over only 25m and getting no picture at all! The cables in the wall have been Fluke tested and check out problem free and I bypassed them and used shorter patch leads and this equipment works great. I only wish this website had strictly specified top grade cable only, then I would have used it on the 1st fix install. Now to get paid for this job and make my client happy I have got to buy factory made top spec 25m patch leads do a bypass test with them to confirm the equipment will work, then drill into the cavity wall and attempt to fish the new cables to a point where I can take them outside and run them externally buried in flexi hose along the side of the property before re entering the wall behind the HD source all extra work I cant ask my client for.
