Please note however that DVI connections are not capable of carrying an audio signal. A separate audio cable will be required when using this adapter.

When would I need to use this type of DVI to HDMI adapter?

Most commonly, this adapter is used in installations and set-ups where DVI cables have been pre-laid or already exist. Many display devices now support HDMI connections as their primary digital HD signal input over the older DVI connection and through the use of this adapter the DVI cable can still be utilized effectively to transmit the images without any loss of signal performance

Can this adapter be used on the end of long HDMI cable lengths?

Yes. The adapter will not affect the performance of the cable; it is simply an addition the cable’s headshell changing the angle of the connector. We recommend using our HDMI cables with this product, available up to 15 metres in length. However, if your require lengths longer than this there are additional options available to you. Most commonly, a HDMI extender/repeater block will extend the range of your cable run. For more specialist installations we also stock extra long active HDMI cables and HDMI over CAT5 solutions which can potentially allow your cable run to extend beyond 50 metres.

What will this adapter work with?

This adapter can be connected to any HDMI supported device or cable. These include Blu-ray players, PS3, SKY HD, Xbox 360 Elite, Vigin V+ boxes, laptops and computers, amplifiers, AV Receivers, HDTVs, displays and projectors. Look out for the HDMI logo on your device, if it is there – this adapter can be used with it with no loss of signal quality.
