The package consists of 2 units - a ‘Sender’ and ‘Receiver’, simply place the Sender unit next to the HDMI source device (such as a Satellite HD box, Blu-ray player, or HD gaming console) connected with a HDMI cable. Similarly the Receiver unit connects to the HD display device, (TV or projector) also with a HDMI cable. Just a single Cat 5e,Cat 6 or Cat 7 cable then links the Sender and Receiver units, sending perfect HDMI video and audio up to 100m/330ft apart.

(NB Power is applied to both units with included 5V DC (1.5m) power supplies)

This unit comes with EDID Sync Function

The GRCAT01GB TX unit has an in-built NVRAM storage memory chip. This enables users to effectively manage and control EDID data. The device has a number of pre-stored EDID settings as well as the ability to store a display device or AV Receiver’s EDID data via the EDID COPY function.

Why you might consider this unit

One of the drawbacks to using long HDMI cables is that their length is fixed and unchangeable after it has been manufactured. Users cannot reduce or increase the length themselves because HDMI connectors require termination in controlled factory conditions. In contrast, Cat 5/Cat-6 cables are much more widely available and far more cost effective compared to HDMI cabling. The Cat 5/Cat-6 cable can be purchase on long reels and users can cut cable lengths themselves to whatever length is required, perfectly suiting the individual and specific needs of their set-up scenario. Compared to HDMI cabling, Cat-6 cabling is much easier to work with in big installations, being easily bendable, far more flexible and easier to be pulled through inner wall trunking or tubing.

TIP: We recommend the use of high quality professional Cat 6 cabling - this can be purchased from us on 305 metre reels. Cat-6 cabling is superior to Cat 5 or Cat 5e network cabling provides performance of up to 250 MHz, more than double category 5 and 5e, which is much better for demanding HD installs.

The HDMI extender includes two units: 1 - transmitting and 1 - receiving unit. The transmitting unit is used to capture the input HDMI/DVI signals and carry the signals through one RJ-45 connector onto one Cat 5e/6/7 cable.

The receiving unit is responsible for equalizing the sent TMDS multimedia data. The transmission distance between the sending and receiving units can be up to 100m/330ft at 1080i and 50m/160ft at 1080p.

The HDMI to CAT5 extender is HDCP compatible; however, you must verify your source and destination devices support (or don't support) HDCP encryption. Essentially, HDCP compliant devices will only transmit to or receive from other devices with HDCP coding.

Because the quality of the CAT-5/5e/6 cables has major effects in how long transmission distance will be, and the quality that is received by the display, the actual transmission length is subject to your Cat 5e/6/7 cables. For resolution greater than 1080i or 1280x1024, HDCable.co.uk recommends Cat 6 cabling.

Great product, very well boxed. Worked out of the box when splitting a SKY HD and PS3 signal through an Infinius 3x2 splitter/swicther. Cat 6 cable provided fantastic picture over 15m run. Took 30 mins to install and wire in. Comes with little brackets to wall mount if needed. Couldnt be more pleased with picture. Just as good as primary screen.

Very prompt product advice and unit works a treat. Review by gordonc1960

All of my AV units are located in a cupboard in my hall. My home is new and cat5e wired throughout. I wanted to feed an HDMI signal from my new Panasonic DMRBS750 Blu Ray DVD Recorder
wonderbox in my cupboard, via a patch panel, to my TV on my wall in my lounge, some distance away. The unit works a treat. I now have full access to 1080p high definition and the performance is outstanding, over a SINGLE Cat5e cable. Well done to everyone at HDCable for their support and very prompt product advice.
