Thank you for showing an interest in HD Cable's relationship with KIDSCAN
1 in 650 children will be diagnosed with cancer in the UK this year; tragically, 30% of these children will not survive. Through groundbreaking research, KIDSCAN is striving to reduce that figure.
Cancer is the most common cause of death from illness in children aged between 0 and 15. It does not discriminate age: even a vulnerable, innocent child can suffer the effects of cancer and sometimes more so, the side effects of the drugs used to treat it.
KIDSCAN is looking for better ways to treat childhood cancers so that children can be healthy when they reach adulthood and not be reminded of the dreadful illness they suffered from in childhood.
Currently, some children with cancer are 'over-treated' because we don?t know how their bodies will respond to drugs. KIDSCAN aims to find out what makes drugs effective in some cases and not as effective in others. That way, drugs can be tailored to individual patients, making them work to maximum effect.
KIDSCAN is the only charity in the UK researching into new and improved treatments specifically for childhood cancers.
Message from Chris Pinder, Managing Director, HD Cable Ltd
"HD Cable is delighted to be supporting KIDSCAN, it is a great charity with a fantastic cause.
Visiting KIDSCAN you will see a devoted, passionate, extremely hard working small team of staff and scientists. Focusing on a very specific, very important area of a huge problem that in one way or another affects us all.
This year we hope to provide our assistance and support both financially through donations and fundraising activities, but also in terms of man-hours and 'hands on' help volunteering. HD Cable staff will also be looking to be actively participating at many of KIDSCAN's events throughout the year such as their runs, walks, treks and cycles. Even I have been persuaded to participate in this year's BUPA Great Manchester Run for KIDSCAN!
We are all extremely proud to be promoting and supporting KIDSCAN and we hope we can raise some substantial funding towards their work over this year."
