With an ever-increasing number of HDMI devices being released in the market today, you may find yourself with more HD devices than your display can support directly. If this is the case then a switcher is the perfect solution for you.
The Pro-2 Range 3 input manual HDMI switcher is a kind of ‘HDMI Hub’ that allows you to connect up to 3 HD source devices (such as HD Satellite Receivers, Games Consoles, Blu-ray & DVD Players) to a single HD display or projector and easily switch between them.
No power supply is required for this unit. The switcher has a robust metal casing and features 24k gold input connector contacts. Switching between connected devices is easily performed by pressing the desired input button - 1, 2 or 3 on the front of the switcher.
NB: We recommend using a maximum cable length of 5m with this unit. For setups where cable lengths longer than 5m are require please consider using a powered switcher.
Having a central point to manage all your HD devices brings some great potential advantages. Firstly, there is no longer a need to get up off the sofa, tediously disconnecting and reconnecting cables manually at the back of your TV set. Another great advantage of using a switcher unit comes if you are planning to hide long cable lengths under floors or behind walls. The switcher allows you to simply run a single output cable to the TV, but gives you the option of having additional inputs available and ready should you acquire and wish to connect more devices in the future. These new devices can simply be connected to the hub, so there is no need to rip up the floors or walls again to lay additional leads.
As with all of our Pro-2 Range of HDMI connectivity products, the unit conforms to a strict ethos of having a very high specification whilst remaining highly affordable and superb value for money. A high-quality product aimed at the budget-conscious, but demanding savvy buyer.
Performance wise, the Pro-2 Range of switchers can still hold its own. Whether connected to PlayStation 3, Blu-ray player, Satellite HD box or top-spec HDTV, you can expect a perfect picture performance even at this incredibly low price.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What will this HDMI switcher work with?
This switcher unit has been designed to be compatible with a wide range of HD devices such as Blu-ray players, PlayStaion3, Sky HD, Xbox 360, Vigin+, laptops and computers (connections permitting) amplifiers, HDTV’s and projectors. Look out for the HDMI logo on your device, if it is there this unit should be compatible with it.
I need to run a HDMI connection longer than 5 metres from the unit, what do you recommend?
For set ups where cable lengths longer than 5m are require please consider using a powered switcher.
What is the difference between a Switcher and a Splitter?
A switcher is designed for use with one display. A splitter is designed for use with multiple displays. A switcher will allow you to connect multiple inputs devices to a single display with only one HDMI input available for example. A splitter will allow you to split a signal to multiple displays, an example would sending a Sky Sports HD image to 4 screens simultaneously around a bar.
How does this switcher differ to your Infinius switcher models?
The primary difference between the two ranges is the quality of construction and assembly of the units. The Infinius range uses more expensive internal components and is more robust in build-quality. The Infinius range also has USB connectivity with the potential to upgrade the unit’s firmware. The Pro-2 range is designed more with simplicity and 'no frills' functionality and budget in mind. The Infinius is a high-end unit of an extremely high caliber and the Pro-2 is a functional but still effective design.
