Salford-based hdcable.co.uk, the UK’s leading online retailer of HDTV cabling and Salford’s 2008 Business of the Year have this week launched a special limited edition purple HDMI cable to raise funds in aid of local Children’s Cancer Research charity KIDSCAN.

100% of the retail price will be donated directly to KIDSCAN as part of their purple pound campaign for this year.

The generous gesture from HD Cable marks a continuation in their support for KIDSCAN, the only charity in Britain dedicated to researching cancer treatments for children.

KIDSCAN is looking for better ways to treat childhood cancers so that children can be healthy when they reach adulthood and not be reminded of the dreadful illness they suffered from in childhood.

Currently, some children with cancer are 'over-treated' because we don’t know how their bodies will respond to drugs. KIDSCAN aims to find out what makes drugs effective in some cases and not as effective in others. That way, drugs can be tailored to individual patients, making them work to maximum effect.

Chris Pinder, HD Cable’s Managing Director commented…

“Earlier this year, HD Cable made a commitment to support KIDSCAN and so far our staff have participated in a number of KIDSCAN fundraising activities, including myself in the BUPA Great Manchester Run. The purple cable initiative is another way we thought we could help without getting blisters on our feet!

Everyone here is extremely proud to be promoting and supporting KIDSCAN and we hope to raise some substantial funding towards their incredibly important work.”

The purple cable is available to purchase now from HDCable.co.uk
